Local Leadership Update
Greetings, brothers and sisters,
For our members unable to attend August’s Members Meeting Yesterday,
A letter from the President, “I would like to start off with a heartfelt Thank You. Thank you to all the members who gave me the opportunity to represent them and you within our Local 727p. As President, it has been my honor to fulfill the role and responsibilities and try and guide us with the support of the Executive Board and you to a better future for our Local. As Communicator, I have enjoyed working to provide comprehensive resources and tools through our website and emails to give you access to all the resources we have to make our membership the most informed it has ever been. As a Steward, it has been my pleasure to provide you representation and interpretation of our CBA and striving for fairness and respect from the Company. As a Delegate, to bring our members vision and concerns up the Union Organization Ladder. It has been a wonderful four and a half years (4.5) working with, and for you, our members. I have accepted a new role within Lockheed Martin and look forward to continuing to work with and support you going forward from a different aspect. Thank you all so very much.”
With that, we are announcing changes coming within our Local Leadership. Effective August 21st, President, Derrick Hernandez, will stepping down from all roles within our Local and withdrawal from our Union. He will continue to support the transition through and after to make sure we can continue to represent our members with little to no downtime.
With this change, per our Local and District By-laws and our IAM Constitution, effective August 21st, 2026,
Timothy Simon will be assuming the role, responsibilities, and duties of President of Local 727p.
Joseph Mauldin will be assuming the role, responsibilities, and duties of Communicator for our Local and will be taking over the management of our Local’s Website.
Alex Newson will be assuming the role of District 725 Delegate for Local 727p with his alternate being Brian Villagomez.
Lastly, for the filling of Vice President, “Per Article V, Section 13, (d) For all vacancies with no alternates, the President of the Local shall appoint a qualified member to fulfill the term of office, with the approval of the executive board.” This will be announced soon.
